About the Foundation

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority National Education Fund, Inc. (SGR-NEF) was officially established in 1984 as a public, non-profit organization dedicated to providing scholarships for Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Since its inception, its objectives have evolved to:

  • Ensure ongoing support for the Sorority's educational initiatives.

  • Encourage education continuation among members, affiliates, and the broader community, whether pursuing studies at two or four-year colleges, trade schools, or certificate programs.

  • Promote and engage in educational research and studies.

  • Collaborate with like-minded individuals, organizations, or foundations.


Today, NEF remains a robust philanthropic program committed to assisting deserving students. To date, NEF has:

  • Distributed over $1,000,000 in scholarships.

  • Granted scholarships to more than 600 students.

  • Provided over $1,000,000 in grants to support programs, conferences, workshops, and community initiatives.

SGR-NEF receives annual contributions from the general public, for-profit entities, and members of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. These funds sustain scholarship programs, including traditional scholarships, mini-grants, fellowships, educational stipends, travel grants, and other forms of assistance.

SGR-NEF is dedicated to enhancing students' quality of life by providing scholarship aid, educational initiatives, fellowships, grants, and additional support. Moreover, we cultivate community engagement and promote collaboration for broader civic and social impact.

Our Mission

The mission of the National Education Fund, Inc. is to:

  1. provide scholarship aid to students with financial need from all backgrounds, and

  2. to conduct educational programs, workshops, symposiums, and forums that enhances quality of life.
